SpiritedLA Original Cocktail: The PSC
September 22, 2016
Summer will always be my favorite season, but fall is a pretty close second. All of the standard basic-bitch behaviors live up to the hype– apple picking, breaking out your sweaters, eating disgusting amounts of candy on Halloween, and putting pumpkin in absolutely everything.
This last one has mildly irritated me, because I’ve tried and tried to add pumpkin to my most basic food group (cocktails) and had no luck. Pumpkin beer was a no-go, the pie filling was absolutely bizarre in anything I used it for, and I couldn’t get behind using the seeds. It was humiliating.
This year is different. I’ve figured it out.
The pumpkin cocktail I came up with is almost embarrassingly simple– absolutely anyone can make it, because I’ve relied entirely on Trader Joes to do all the hard flavoring work. So if you’re craving a bit of fall flavor and are over the PSL, give the PSC a try.
The PSC
- 2 oz Bourbon (I used Four Roses)
- 1 T Trader Joes Pumpkin Butter
- 3 Dashes of Orange Scrappy’s Bitters
- Shake well, double strain, and pour over ice.
- Garnish with thinly-sliced apple and cinnamon stick
This looks delicious and it’s tapping into all my autumnal cravings. Is there nothing Trader Joe’s can’t make better?
