How to Be a Better Drinker: Cocktail Recipes & Boozy Etiquette

October 13, 2024

I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that my first book, “How to Be a Better Drinker: Cocktail Recipes and Boozy Etiquette” is now available for pre-order. I started working on this book in one form or another over a decade ago, and for years, I doubted I’d ever have the skill or confidence to finish it. Now here it is, and I couldn’t be more grateful to all my supporters and proud that my liquid fieldwork (as Charles H. Baker would say) is finally being put to good use.

Notably, “How to Be a Better Drinker” is not necessarily about encouraging people to drink any more or any less. Rather it’s designed to help readers better enjoy their time with a cocktail in hand: the pitfalls to avoid, and the opportunities for even more fun. In an attempt to accomplish this, the book features over 50 recipes, tips on hosting and good bar behavior, advice on how to build your best home bar, elegant photographs, stylish illustrations by Tug Rice, and expert input from the likes of Paul Feig, Molly McPherson, Zachary Weiss, Stacie Flinner, Dani Dazey, Serena Shahidi, and others.

I’m so thankful to everyone who has shared cocktails with me over the years. The bartenders who’ve made them for me, the friends and family I’ve made them for, my husband who has bravely persevered through my hangovers, and to everyone who has followed on TikTok and Instagram. Without you, this would never have been possible. Thank you.

How to Be a Better Drinker” is available for preorder now, and will be released February 25, 2025 in the US and Canada, and the 10th of April 2025 in the United Kingdom. For any questions about the book, please contact me here or send an email to contact@spiritedla.com.
